Feedback … whether we like it or not we need it to grow!

The TEERA SMC has put together a ride review form for those in attendance at rides to complete after the event. The aim is that RO organising committees can see what they did well or maybe what need to be improved!

‘Feedback is free education to excellence, give it with sincerity receive it with grace’

Click here to complete the feedback form for the first ride of the season, the JIll Sheean ride at Sassafras the weekend before last.

Two important things about this weekend's Jill Sheean ride

1. COVID - depending on which epidemiologist you listen to, the odds are that there will be asymptomatic people at this weekend's ride who are 'active' cases with the potential to infect others.. Accordingly, please take care to practice appropriate hand and other hygiene and to comply with the usual social distancing requirements.

2. TEERA Annual General Meeting. No hard copy documents (agenda, reports, financials, motions) will provided to those attending the AGM, scheduled for 7PM on Friday evening. These are all available on this website (scroll down).

2021 TEERA AWARDS - Friday 11 February - Jill Sheean Ride Base - Smith and Others Rd, Sassafras

As most TEERA members will know, the annual TEERA dinner and awards night, initially scheduled for 15 January, had to be postponed because of insufficient numbers.

The TEERA SMC met on Wednesday this week and agreed to reschedule the awards presentations for the Friday evening of the first ride of the season, the Jill Sheean. Award presentations will immediately follow the TEERA AGM, to be held at 7PM that evening.

Alternative arrangements will be made for those recipients who won't be able to attend the ride.

NOTICE OF TEERA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 7.00PM 11 Feb, 2022

TEERA members will recall that the 2021 TEERA Annual General Meeting (AGM), originally scheduled for 15 January, had to be postponed because of uncertainty about attendance. The TEERA State Management Committee met last night and set a new date for the AGM. It will be held at 7.00 p.m. Friday 11 February, 2022 at the Lamprey Ride Base, Smith and Others Rd, Sassafras, TAS.

AGENDA

  1. To confirm the minutes of the 2020 AGM (Minutes available here);

  2. To receive reports from the Committee and Auditor;

  3. To elect the Committee members.

    Nominations were called for the five vacant 2022 SMC positions in December. Six nominations were received with one nomination subsequently withdrawn. The five remaining nominees are, accordingly, deemed to be elected to the 2022 SMC. Their terms will commence at the conclusion of this AGM.

    They are: Kirstie Lockhart, Jessica Goulding, Trenton Huxtable, Grace Huxtable and Andrew Miles.

  4. To appoint the auditors and agree their remuneration;

  5. Special Business

    1. Motion regarding redrafting the TEERA Rules (constitution).

    2. AERA / TEERA affiliation agreement

      The AERA Constitution requires that Division Associations, such as TEERA, 'affiliate' with AERA by 1 March each year. This requirement implies that an affiliation agreement must exist to describe the affiliation. Such an agreement was prepared by an AERA working group in 2021. It was endorsed by all AERA Management Committee members in November and by the TEERA SMC at its November meeting. It is now offered to TEERA members for final endorsement.

      Draft Affiliation Agreement

  6. Other business

Vale Malcolm ‘Dickie’ Lamprey

It is with great sadness TEERA learned of the passing of Dickie Lamprey earlier this week.

Dickie was a long time supporter of endurance in Tasmania with his daughters Tammy and Allison competing for many years and his wife and TEERA life member Pat Lamprey organising and holding countless rides from their property in Sassafras for more than twenty years.

His support was far reaching and with the aid of his trusty steed "Nabowla Nook Nite" (best horse on the farm) helped many more on their journey through life.

His presence will be missed.

Our thoughts are with Pat and family at this sad time.

Swabbing stewards urgently needed – interested in helping out?

TEERA members and others involved in endurance horse riding will be aware that, in order to ensure our sport remains ‘clean’, horses are regularly swabbed for drugs, both legal and illegal, at endurance events.

 The swabbing procedure must be supervised by an accredited swab steward of which there are only a very few in Tasmania. There is an urgent need to train more, both in Tasmania and elsewhere in this country.

 To that end, Equestrian Australia is seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to undertake the relevant training to become accredited. This involves a two-day course followed by attendance at three events acting as a probationary swab steward.

If you believe you may be able to assist, please contact the TEERA secretary Mark Dunn – secretary@teera.asn.au – by 10 November 2021.

Tom Quilty Gold Cup 2025 - steering committee members sought

Tassie’s next turn to host a Tom Quilty Gold Cup event is in 2025.

Quiltys are years in the planning and the TEERA SMC is keen to establish a steering committee for the event as soon as possible, preferably by the end of 2021.

The SMC is pleased to have already received a number of expressions of interest however, there remains a need for more people to join the group.

If you or anyone in your endurance network is interested in joining the steering committee, please contact the TEERA secretary, Mark Dunn --> secretary@teera.asn.au
