2023 TEERA fees and charges, membership renewals

Membership renewals now open

The TEERA SMC met this week to finalise the 2023 TEERA budget and set the 2023 membership and ride fees and charges.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that insurance costs for our sport, in line with insurance costs in general, have increased by almost 50% in the last two years. As a result of this the SMC has reluctantly had to increase both membership and ride fees for 2023. Increases have been limited to the minimum amount necessary to cover TEERA’s projected costs for 2023. Somewhat paradoxically, the cost of personal accident insurance has not risen for 2023.

A complete list of 2023 fees and charges has been published on the Forms page of this website as has the 2023 membership application / renewal form. The membership form has a link to the 2023 personal accident insurance application form.

TEERA state management committee (SMC) elections

Nominations have opened for the election of 5 TEERA members to the 2023 TEERA state management committee (SMC).

TEERA members remaining on SMC as they have served only half of their current two year terms are Kirstie Lockhart, Jessica Goulding, Trenton Huxtable, Grace Huxtable and Andrew Miles.

As there are only nine members of the SMC at present, the terms of the remaining four have ended. They are Mark Dunn, Felicity Perry, Angie Clarke and Deb Wyllie.

FIVE SMC places need to be filled. Please consider nominating for the 2023 SMC and contributing to the running of endurance riding in this state.

The nomination form can be downloaded here. Nominations close at 5PM on 31 December 2022. Should more than 5 nominations be lodged an election to choose the 5 successful candidates will be conducted in January 2023 with the results announced at the Annual general meeting on 3 February.

The nomination form has a second page for those who wish to provide notices of motion for consideration at the annual general meeting.

CANCELLED - Pyengana ride - CANCELLED

Friday 7.30AM Update - Ride cancelled

The sad decision to cancel the event was made this morning. This is because of uncertainty about access for many people and, also, the Tas Police advice to avoid unnecessary travel.

Instructions on how to request a ride entry refund are available here.

——-

The forecast for Pyengana for Saturday looks good —> ‘Mostly sunny day. Medium chance of showers in the late afternoon and evening. Light winds becoming west to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening..

There are no plans to cancel or postpone the ride - the track was planned with rain in mind - history tells us it does get wet up there.

While there are issues on some northern, north-west and north-east roads as of 7PM Thursday, ride organisers are hopeful these will be resolved by Friday.

If there is any change, you can read about it here - watch this space.

State Championship dates confirmed - help needed

At its meeting last week, the TEERA SMC confirmed that the 2022 Tasmanian State Endurance Championships will be held from 18-20 November out of Santarena Park, Scottsdale. 160km, 95km and 40km rides (40km TBC) will be offered.

The event will be managed by the TEERA SMC with assistance from NEEEC members to mark the track and provide local knowledge and assistance on the ground at the event. As you all know, running a 160km ride is a huge undertaking and the SMC will need help making it happen.

To that end, SMC is asking each club to support the event by providing one person to assist. This may take the form of assisting at a time gate, acting as a TPR or penciller, assisting in the ride office, assisting with catering for ride officials etc etc.

Similarly, the SMC is also seeking support from any individual member who is able to help.

The SMC would be grateful if you could signal your ability to assist by contacting Deb Wyllie by 15 September.

Deb can be contacted by phone on 0408 177 206 or by email at deborah.wyllie@bigpond.com.
